1st Conditional

Prvi kondicional, odnosno prvi tip pogodbenih rečenica se koristi kada govorimo o stvarnoj mogućnosti da se ispuni neki uslov u sadašnjosti ili budućnosti. Veznik if u ovom tipu uvijek prevodimo na srpski kao "ako".

/If I have money, I will buy a house./

Gradi se po istom principu kao nulti kondicional, samo što ovaj put umesto Present Simple vremena koristimo prosto buduće vreme.

if + present simple, will + infinitiv

I ovde, dakle, mogu da se zamene glavna i zavisna rečenica, a važi i jednako pravilo o upotrebi zareza. Ako prvo ide zavisna, if rečenica, koristi se zarez. Ako prvo ide glavna rečenica, pa onda zavisna, nema potrebe za upotebom zareza.

Ovakva vrsta forme se normalno upotrebljava i kada govorimo o mogućim planovima, obećanjima, upozorenjima, pretnjama ili za ubeđivanje nekoga. Ako je uslov ispunjen, mi samo predviđamo najverovatniji rezultat u budućnosti.

/If I go to Paris next month, I'll visit the Eiffel Tower./ (Plan)
/If I have time, I will help you./ (Obećanje)
/If you touch that wire, you will get an electric shock./ (Upozorenje)
/If you eat my chocolate, you'll regret it./ (Pretnja)
/If you take me to the cinema, I'll buy you popcorn./ (Ubeđivanje)

Umesto prostog budućeg vremena u glavnoj rečenici, mogu se upotrebiti i modalni glagoli ili going to kada je reč o mogućoj (ali ne i sigurnoj) posledici. Pa imamo sledeće alternativne načine građenja:

If + present simple, going to + infinitiv
ili If + present simple, shall/can/must/may + infinitiv

/If you are nice to me, I may buy you a gift when I'm in Peru./

/If they train a little harder, they must win the match./

/If he doesn't do his work, he can get fired./
